It’s More Interesting When it’s Painted

Finally. Finally we’re on the road. For the past months we’ve been almost certain that our friends must have felt as though they were caught in an endless loop of saying goodbye, only to see us “…one more time.” But now we’re on the road and, with the love of our friends and families warming our backs, we head east.
Leaving isn’t an easy thing to do when we have so many reasons to stay. In the days prior to departure Nita and I have both had sleepless nights filled with questions about our motivations. We’ve had moments filled with absolute doubt, fear and uncertainty. Even a sense of incredulity at our belief that we might pull off such an adventure.
But then we’d talk to someone – anyone – and it was their unwavering belief in us and in this idea, that often restored our wobbly legs, puffed up our chests and set us straight.
And really, it’s not about pulling anything off. It’s that we’d even try it at all.
Over the months of planning and talking (there’s a lot of talking involved) we’ve met so many great folks who wish, want and dream of doing *something* and our challenge to them is to try (though Yoda would take exception). Whatever it is, whatever shape it takes and however it turns out, just try. From the bottom of our hearts, please try.
This life is a beautiful, brief, uncertain and wondrous thing. And regardless of beliefs, mandates, agendas, politics and history, we are – all of us – faced with a stark white canvas on which we can create something truly beautiful. And that’s the beauty of being human isn’t it? We can create something new everyday if we just choose to do it.
So, our adventure is underway with our backs warmed by the amazing people we have in our lives, putting fears to rest, and welcoming every-days opportunity to paint a picture that’s different from yesterdays.
Thanks for joining us!
