There and gone in a flash is how I describe a photo op when travelling on two wheels. Where there is rarely time for a second glance. Leaving an impression more like a snap shot in your mind rather than long lasting panoramic. But I kind of love the idea of this – setting your eyes on so much at one time that the brain can’t seem to fully process what comes its way, unlike when you are standing still, with time to stare and take it all in. You really learn to appreciate the magic around you, even if only for a brief moment.

Luckily, during our Ride Across America, we were two up and I took full advantage of it. I had my camera around my neck and in hand the entire time. Of course I was wedged in quite tightly between Issa and our two 50 liter dry bags. I wasn’t going anywhere. The challenge wasn’t about holding on, it became purely about establishing a quicker set of reflexes. How fast can I get my hands up after seeing something worth shooting? Apparently, pretty fast. After getting home and rummaging through the near 1600 photos I had kept and downloaded, I found there were just too many to be loved.

I remembered this site moo.com. Where they print these micro mini cards. They are so incredibly cool. You can upload up to 100 different images and they are fully customizable. Full front and back color printing, on heavy premium stock paper. They feel absolutely amazing to the touch because of the high quality matte laminate finish and are also said to be sustainably sourced. They start around $19.99 for 100 cards. The color is fairly rich and the upload process is also quite painless. I thought they’d be great to have when on the road, meeting other riders and making new friends. Small bite sized pieces of the larger picture to share wherever we go.
